Misti has been working at MATRIX since July 2010.  She moved to Atlanta after finishing graduate school at the University of Georgia.  “I was in the Instructional Design and Development program trying to become a Technology Coordinator or a Technology Teacher at an elementary/middle school.”  She was substituting full time in Gwinnett County waiting for that type of opportunity to come up.  When that didn’t work out the way she wanted, she decided to put her resume online to see what else was out there.

She soon got a phone call from the director of administration in the MATRIX Atlanta office asking if she would like to work in the admin department.  “I was pretty nervous during the interview process because I was totally out of my element; but as soon as I came in I felt comfortable.  Everyone was very welcoming and polite, and the environment was calm and laid-back…not crazy and hectic as I imagined it would be.”  When Misti was offered the job she didn’t think twice to say yes.  “I was happy and so excited to get started on an opportunity completely new to me!”  Misti worked in the admin department for a few months then quickly moved to an Account Coordinator position in January 2011.

“My favorite thing about MATRIX is that I can see myself here – working with this group of people – for years to come.  Everyone here is successful, happy, energetic and positive; and they all still manage to have lives outside of work to balance them out, which is really important to me looking into the future.”  Misti likes that she gets to be a part of someone’s journey from the first steps of a phone interview, all the way through the part where she gets to meet them congratulate them on a new job.  “I’ve had people scream in the phone and get really excited…and I feel happy for them because not too long ago I was in the same position, and I remember how happy I felt when someone told me that I had the job!”

In her spare time, Misti enjoys painting, decorating, exercising and traveling to new places.  She likes listening to music and finding local bands and music festivals to go to.  And of course she loves being a part of all the exciting changes going on her friends’ lives too…such as weddings and new babies!
